Gunnar is our newest addition to the family…one that if it was up to Shawn, wouldn’t have happened. I LOVE his sire, Ruger (BISS CH Sir Ruger Huntmore JH), and then after meeting Maddy (CH Dynata’s Bound to Know It All SH NAJ), Gunnar’s dam, at Nationals in 2007, I absolutely HAD to have one of their puppies!!! Shawn wasn’t up for it at first, but after some pressure from me I got him to a “maybe”. Then we went to the South LA V Club Hunt Test with Gabi to run in Junior Hunter. I handled her and on the first day she scored all 10’s from both judges!!! After all the congrats and photos, Shawn said to me, “we can get a puppy if I get to handle him in the field”. The rest is history! Thanks Gabi for helping me talk your dad into another redhead!

We brought Gunnar home in February 2008 and we’ve been enjoying him ever since. His temperament is just amazing. His wiggle butt gets everyone laughing and he is EVERYONE’s friend. He is such a sweet boy! You can always count on him to make you smile!

Gunnar won his first point in the conformation ring on July 26, 2008 and finished his Championship title on May 10, 2009 by going best of winners for his third major! He has been a joy to show! Gunnar had 4 Best of Breed wins at 17 months old or younger, including one over the #8 Vizsla in the nation. He is also a Best in Sweeps Winner at the Texas Gulf Coast Vizsla Club Spring Specialty in March 2009!

Gunnar has shown very limited in 2010, only 11 weekends for the year. That didn’t slow him down any though! Since the AKC Grand Championship title began calculating point in mid-May, Gunnar was shown 4 weekends and earned his new title of Grand Champion! He earned all 25 points with major wins – 6 Best of Breed wins and 1 Best of Opposite win. He has won over several top 10 dogs, including a Best of Breed win over the #1 dog in the nation at the Texas Gulf Coast Vizsla Club Supported entry in Houston on July 23rd. Gunnar was ranked in the top 25 and invited to the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship for 2010, however he won’t be able to make it this year. It was an honor to make the list! And to top off 2010, Gunnar finished at #20 in the Nation in breed stats!!

Gunnar completed his Junior Hunter title with new handler Shawn in January 2009. He has a great time in the field! He went off to “bird dog camp” in April 2010 to learn he can no longer chase birds. We have competed in two weekends of hunt tests in November 2010 and Gunnar has passed twice making him half way toward his Senior Hunter title. We finished up his title with back to back qualifying scores at the Show Me Vizsla Club hunt test March 5th and 6th, 2011. Gunnar earned his Master Hunter title with relative ease in four weekends in November 2011!!!! This boy amazes me!
