Gabi is our first Vizsla and she has totally changed our lives forever. Shawn and I had the three beagles but knew we wanted a larger breed of dog but couldn’t agree on which one. So we did what any couple would do…we went to Westminster!! Once we saw the Vizlsa, we both agreed we liked the way it looked and thought this would be one of the breeds we researched. I did about two years of research on the breed before deciding this was definitely the breed for us.

I went down with my mom to the 2006 Texas Gulf Coast Vizsla Club Specialty at the Reliant Center in Houston, TX and met several people who are still my friends to this day! Two very special ladies referred me to their breeder since they had puppies available. Unfortunately, they only had a male left and we wanted a female. However, they were able to recommend another breeder who they often went hunting with. Lucky for us (VERY LUCKY) he did have a female available.

A few weeks later, I brought Gabi home from Indiana in August of 2006. Initially, we thought we would do some obedience and maybe some agility with her. After some encouragement from friends, we entered Gabi in her first conformation show when she was 13 months old. She won best of opposite sex the first day and I was hooked! Then, at 15 months, we took her to a practice hunt test that the SLVC was holding. Let’s just say after seeing Gabi on birds, we were double hooked!!! Life hasn’t slowed down since!

In the fall/winter of 2007, Gabi completed her junior hunt title with excellent scores. She even got all 10’s from both judges on one run! In February 2008, she placed third in her first amateur walking field trial. Then on July 20, 2008 she finished her conformation title in a big way! She took Winners Bitch at the Texas Gulf Coast Vizsla Club Specialty and followed up with another major win on the same weekend!! Then on January 18, 2009 she earned her Senior Hunter Title! We continued our training in 2009 and it paid off. She earned her Master Hunter title on January 24, 2010. She is an amazing girl!

Gabi is very special to us. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have her!!
