Gunnar, Birdy and I made the long journey down to South Louisiana for a hunt test this past weekend while Shawn and Gabi were in Kansas pheasant hunting. Although the trip is long, I love going down to this test every year. It is held by the South Louisiana Vizsla Club and these grounds hold a [...]
Gunnar is now over half way towards earning his Master Hunter title! He ran in the TVWC hunt test and didn’t do so good on Saturday, but bounced back and passed on Sunday! LOTS of birdwork on course, but we managed to make it through with a pass – AND a perfect score for his [...]
We went up to Yoder, KS for our first hunt test of the season. It was put on by two different clubs, so Gunnar got to run four times in one weekend. We have only gotten to train with him twice before these tests since it’s been so hot, but he performed very well! He [...]
We had a great Nationals experience this year in Denver, CO. I took Gabi, Gunnar, Birdy and Abbie (Birdy’s sister) with me, so I had a car full! We went up to Castle Rock, CO the weekend before the National events started so Gabi could run in an all breed agility trial. This would be [...]
We headed out to Marshall, TX for a weekend of dog shows over the Mother’s Day weekend. We had good times with friends and picked up a few ribbons while we were there! After only showing once so far in 2011, Gunnar stepped into the show ring like he never left! He took Best of Breed [...]
On Friday, March 4th, we made our way up to Missouri to participate in the Gateway Vizsla Club’s double specialty show. In show #1, Birdy started it off in sweeps, where it came down to her and the 12-18 month old girl. The judge had us both move quite a bit, but eventually the older girl won. [...]
Just got word from a dear friend of mine to check out the Canine Chronicle’s breed stats. I pulled it up and got a great surprise! Through November 30th shows, Gunnar is ranked #20 in breed stats!! I’m so super excited and thrilled that he made this accomplishment with such limited showing this year. Thank [...]
Well, the last show of 2010 is now behind us and I have to say it was a success! Gunnar took Best of Breed both days and showed well in groups for me. Birdy was entered into a B Match in the 3-6 month class. After winning breed, she went on to win the Sporting [...]
On Saturday, Gunnar earned another leg toward his Senior Hunter title!! He had a find early on in the course, which was good as it was warming up fast and scenting conditions were tough (no wind and very humid). He hunted hard the entire time, and that one find was good enough for the pass. [...]
Gunnar got his first qualifying run toward his Senior Hunter title! He was one of only three dogs to pass today in the Master/Senior level. There were multiple coveys on course with birds walking everywhere which is what caused many dogs not to pass.
Gunnar had two stop to flushes, and pointed a covey of at [...]
